$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ SECRETARY/TREASURER REPORTBy Steve Mac Millan N ews from the secretary treasurer: 5/98 Just as meetings seemed to keep getting better the May get together took things to yet a new level. A crowd of over 40 people sharing beer and interesting discussion kept things moving. A lot of talk centered around the Temecula fest, the upcoming Main Street get together, the Las Vegas International Microbrew Festival on June 13 and the IEB hombrew competition on June 28. I and other club members will be making the journey south to judge and support Remember that the IEB has supported our Winterfest since its inception, so lets continue the support. In other happenings a rough draft of the club by- laws was circulated to those present. Please look them over and send comments to your club officers so we can incorporate them into the draft. It will undoubtedly take a few tries to get it right. But in the end we should have something we can all live with. The monthly raffle lived up to its promise of good prizes and money for the club coffers. Prizes included beer from Kent Bolton, Bob and myself, t-shirt and hat from Bob, posters and banners from Mike Plinski, another hat courtesy of Dale Blanchard, a bud light sign and timer from Reid Harrison, a Temecula glass from Ralph, Zymurgy magazines from Tom O'leary, cigars by Tom Kramer, t-shirt and bag from Jay and malt and openers from the shop. Once again we brought in over $100.00. Factoring in new membership dues and newsletter expenses I made a deposit of $103.00 which gives a bank balance of $1247.00 plus $200.00 petty cash. One of the items which has been suggested for the club to obtain is a nice canopy. Ralph has loaned us a nice one for Renfaire. Perhaps he can help locate one for the club. In other news I inadvertently left out Scott Bennets award winning Sweet Stout at the Great Arizona Beer Festival. Sorry Scott. This just in: fellow SNAFU member and club supporter Paul Lachmanek recently earned enough judging points to become a BJCP National Judge. Congratulations Paul. |
